Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford and Waverley. You may also download the full calendars here. (Please note that the calendars are on 3 pages)

Singing For Health
10:00 am – 11:00 am

In partnership with Waverley and Guildford Borough Council we are excited to host a singing workshop with our clients led by a qualified singing instructor. These are a great way to improve breathing, posture and overall mental health and wellbeing. They are also a great chance to make friends, have fun and you do not need any singing experience.

We have limited spaces and booking is required so please speak with Annalise to ensure you do not miss out on this FREE activity!

Anxiety Management Course
11:00 am – 12:30 pm

The Centre of Psychology are continuing to run a 5 week Anxiety Management Course. Each session will last an hour and a half and you must commit to attending all five session in the course.

Mindfulness in Farnham
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing and yoga. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we are better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

The sessions will be held every Wednesday afternoon in central Farnham.
NO COST – sessions are free
Everyone welcome, come along to help you manage stress, anxiety or anger better.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

Improve your computer skills with this fantastic 6 week course, designed to develop your ability to engage with computer technology.
Brought to you by Oakleaf, this FREE course is for anyone who wishes to improve mental wellbeing through skill development.

Thanks to the success of our one off taster session with a professional photographer in Guildford we will be hosting a session each week on a Wednesday.  

It is the perfect opportunity to ask questions, pick up some tips on how to improve the pictures you take and to meet new people who share an interest in taking great pictures.

Art is known to help improve various mental and physical symptoms including, but not limited to, reducing pain, anxiety and tension. The aim of this 10 week course is to help you look at what confidence
is, how to increase your confidence and how to overcome
certain difficult social situations, whilst managing your mental
health condition. It is also a great opportunity to meet other people and get to know them as you go through the course together.

You will need to wear clothes that aren’t too restricting, please bring your own mat if possible otherwise we can provide some. Beginners welcome.

Come along to our Drawing Workshop and learn how to draw from still life using easy to learn techniques. Drawing is a great way to stay calm and reduce anxiety.

The aim of this 10 week course is to help you look at what confidence
is, how to increase your confidence and how to overcome
certain difficult social situations, whilst managing your mental
health condition. It is also a great opportunity to meet other people and get to know them as you go through the course together.

Art Class (Afternoon)
1:30 pm – 4:30 pm

After popular demand we are happy to put Art Classes back onto the Oakleaf calendar. Art is known to help improve various mental and physical symptoms including, but not limited to, reducing pain, anxiety and tension. It can be beneficial to those who have experienced mental disorders, emotional abuse, cancer, post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), people who are bi-polar, and a variety of other serious ailments.

Our New Art Tutor will guide the group through painting, drawing and water colours.

Cost is £2 per session and you must sign up to the full 12 week course. Speak with Annalise to book your space!

Football in North Guildford

Join us to play football in North Guildford. It will be a great opportunity to get fit and learn new skills whilst making friends.

We are planning to play some 5 a side games and so it would be great to have as many people as possible involved. Speak with Annalise or Paul to find out more information!
