I.T. Vocational Training and Print Vocational training designed for people who want to learn Information Technology (IT) either from scratch, or to revise skills that may have been forgotten due to illness. The project is well equipped with modern computers and supported by experienced IT staff. Using CLAIT (Computer Literacy And Information Technology) learning package, clients can gain a nationally recognised qualification. CLAIT is endorsed and verified by the academic body: OCR (Oxford and Cambridge and Royal Society of Arts). Certificates awarded provide a basis for progression to NVQ Levels 1,2,3. The project accommodates up to 47 clients per week. Learning times can be extended to allow for fluctuating mental health conditions. By the end of the course clients are proficient in using Windows, Microsoft Office and/ or BBC WebWise; and they can demonstrate the ability and motivation to move on to employment. The project also provides a print and web design service to local businesses and private customers. It results in a modest trading income which contributes to the cost of training and gives clients real work experience .
