How We Work - the Referral Procedure

We are happy to receive referrals for new clients from General Practitioners, Community Mental Health Teams, Private Clinics and Psychiatric Consultants, or any other voluntary or statutory agency. People can also self refer. The only critieria for attending is each individual must be motivated; able to attend reliably; aged 16 – 65; and interested in developing work-related skills

  • The referral system is straightforward, just contact us.
  • Each person referred is interviewed to assess their health, personal circumstances, particular goals or aspirations.
  • A training and back to work plan is agreed between the client and Oakleaf.
  • Clients are not restricted to an academic time-table; they work at their own pace.
  • Clients may also change to a different training course if their first choice does not suit their needs.
  • Progress is monitored at regular intervals and reports can be made available to the referring body should the client give their consent.
  • You are welcome to visit Oakleaf to see how we work and to invite patients you feel may benefit from the support we provide.
  • If you would like to refer someone straight away call 01483 303649, alternatively email clives@oakleaf-enterprise.org

Volunteering

In their transition to employment, we provide clients with an opportunity to volunteer either within Oakleaf or with a local employer. This route to employment builds confidence and promotes self-esteem, it requires commitment without the pressures of paid employment.

Equal Opportunities

We do not discriminate on the grounds of marital status, sex, colour, race, religion, or sexual orientation. In relation to service users, Oakleaf works to remove any barriers that would prevent its beneficiaries/potential beneficiaries from reaching their full potential. We aim to provide an inclusive environment that welcomes diversity and people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Our services are accessed easily and quickly. Individuals can self refer or be referred by their health and social care teams. Services are designed for people who are at a serious disadvantage returning to work - we level the playing field by giving them the opportunity to gain a qualification throughout the year, rather than being restricted to mainstream academic time-tables. We offer work experience within our organisation in occupations such as reception, catering, furniture restoration, mailing and packaging.

In relation to recruitment and selection individual's are recruited and employed on their relevant merits and abilities. No applicant, employee or volunteer is placed at a disadvantage by conditions or requirements that are unnecessary. Employees are not treated less favourably than any other on grounds of, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital status or age. Employees and volunteers with disabilities are supported to reach full potential and provided with training identified during appraisals. Leading by example, 40% of Oakleaf staff has a mental health disability.
