Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

Mindfulness in Godalming
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing and yoga. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we are better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

The sessions will be held every Tuesday at Café Mila in central Godalming.
NO COST – sessions are free
Everyone welcome, come along to help you manage stress, anxiety or anger better.

Wellbeing walk in Surrey Heath

We have started a walking group which runs every Wednesday from 1pm-3pm

The group will meet outside of Frimley lodge park . It is a great way to get fit, meet new people and enjoy a nice stroll along the canal.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

We are extremely excited to have Guildford College come to deliver a basic literacy and numeracy course with our clients. The course is completely FREE of charge and will run throughout the academic year in term time.

Oakleaf will be holding Yoga sessions in central Farnham every Thursday at 1:30pm.

You will need to wear clothes that aren’t too restricting, please bring your own mat if possible otherwise we can provide some. Beginners welcome. Costs £2 a session.

We are excited to announce that we have a Couch to 5k Course starting in May. This 9 week course is suitable of people of all levels and follows a structured programme aimed at improving fitness.

As the weather gets nicer it is the perfect opportunity to get your trainers on and get outside in the sunshine!

 

The group will be ran by a qualified running teacher and is expected to be popular so please book your space through client services to avoid disappointment.

Run by a former Ghanaian International and Reading FC football player, these fun and friendly sessions are the perfect way to improve your skills and meet new people and improve your mental health. All abilities welcome!

This course will start solely with art techniques and then gently and gradually introduce therapeutic elements to the art, focusing on aspects of well-being and self-exploration.

 

Exploring a range of painting & drawing media and subject matter, this course will offer variety and a safe space for participants to explore. Participants will be supported to work in ways in which they feel comfortable, and any therapeutic aspects will be gentle (with alternatives offered to participants who feel unable to take part in any specific activities).

 

The aim is to experiment, explore and to appreciate the many benefits that art can bring; enjoyment, achieving a flow state, reducing anxiety, social interaction, learning new skills and techniques, working in a supportive space, building confidence, a sense of achievement and much more.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

Oakleaf will be holding Yoga sessions in central Farnham every Thursday at 1:30pm.

You will need to wear clothes that aren’t too restricting, please bring your own mat if possible otherwise we can provide some. Beginners welcome. Costs £2 a session.

We are excited to announce that we have a Couch to 5k Course starting in May. This 9 week course is suitable of people of all levels and follows a structured programme aimed at improving fitness.

As the weather gets nicer it is the perfect opportunity to get your trainers on and get outside in the sunshine!

 

The group will be ran by a qualified running teacher and is expected to be popular so please book your space through client services to avoid disappointment.

Run by a former Ghanaian International and Reading FC football player, these fun and friendly sessions are the perfect way to improve your skills and meet new people and improve your mental health. All abilities welcome!
