Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

We are extremely excited to be able to offer 1to1 literacy sessions to our clients. Each session is 30 minutes long and can help with anything from reading and writing through to English as a second language.

This is expected to be extremely popular so speak with Annalise in Client Services if you would like to book your space!

11:30 am – 12:30 pm

Get healthy with beginner keep-fit classes at Oakleaf! Aimed to get you fitter, feel healthier and have some fun too!

Sessions cost £2 each week.

Come along to our FREE  Mindful Meditation/Sound Therapy course. These sessions will give you the opportunity to relax and increase mental and physical awareness.

Run by a former Ghanaian International and Reading FC football player, these fun and friendly sessions are the perfect way to improve your skills and meet new people and improve your mental health. All abilities welcome!

Colouring is a great way to introduce yourself to mindfulness. Join us in the Art Room for an afternoon of peaceful thinking, colours, mellow music and positive energy.

Musical Workshop

Chris Munroe is coming along to Oakleaf to perform a 20 minute Exert of his new play ‘Zombie’ the musical. It follows an individuals journey through mental health services and into community support.  Come along for the chance to find out more and potentially get involved in future productions!

Art Therapy in Bramley
10:00 am – 12:00 pm

This course will focus on developing artistic skills using a diversity of art materials in a relaxed and nourishing environment. Throughout the 6 weeks, we will explore painting and drawing in depth, drawing our inspiration from nature, famous artworks and poetry. No previous artistic experience is required and all materials are provided.

Come along to a FREE six week course of Mindful Movement. These sessions will give you the opportunity to relax and increase mental and physical awareness.

Turnfit Gym
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join Oakleaf on a trip to the gym where we will get to use all the equipment in a 1 hour session paid for by Oakleaf. It will be a great way to feel comfortable around gym equipment in a safe space with people you know! If you would like to know more speak with Kelvin ofor more information.

Yoga in Godalming
4:15 pm – 5:15 pm

We’ve all heard that yoga is good for you, and for those of us that have tried it have discovered that it makes us feel better. Regular practice can offer all kinds of mental and physical health benefits. Some, like improved flexibility, are clearly evident. Others, including mental clarity and stress reduction, may be more subtle but are just as powerful.
When put together, all the benefits contribute to an increased feeling of well-being.

Oakleaf will be holding Yoga sessions in central Godalming every Monday at 4:15pm.

You will need to wear clothes that aren’t too restricting, mats will be provided. Beginners welcome. Costs £2 a session.

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing and yoga. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we are better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

The sessions will be held every Tuesday at Café Mila in central Godalming.
NO COST – sessions are free
Everyone welcome, come along to help you manage stress, anxiety or anger better.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

Spaces are limited and it costs just £2 a session so please speak with Annalise if you would like to join.

Come and join our 12 mindful meditation course. Each week you will learn a new meditation to find out which works for you.

Its that time of year again where you can come along to our annual Client Christmas Party!

It costs just £4.50 a ticket!

This includes a Christmas curry with dessert and a drink and everyone gets a present. There will also be a performance by our amazing guitar group as well as the chance to enter into a raffle to win a Christmas Hamper!
