Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

Art is known to help improve various mental and physical symptoms including, but not limited to, reducing pain, anxiety and tension. It can be beneficial to those who have experienced mental disorders, emotional abuse, cancer, post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), people who are bi-polar, and a variety of other serious ailments.

Our Art Tutor will guide the group through painting, drawing and water colours.

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing and yoga. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we are better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

The sessions will be held every Tuesday at Café Mila in central Godalming.

Sound Therapy Farnham
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Our Sound Therapy teacher will guide you through a 1 hour Healing Meditation to help reach a deep relaxed state as the harmonics, frequencies and vibrations of the Tibetan Bowls will take you to your own place of healing and reintegration. No matter where you are in your personal practice as a beginner or more experienced or if you are simply looking for peace of mind, mental clarity, relaxation or searching to deepen your level of spiritual awakening, these classes are for everyone where you will allow yourself to let go, relax, integrate and heal. For you to be as comfortable as possible so please wear clothing you’re happy lying down in and please bring a Yoga/Pilates mat, pillow for head or under knees, blanket and water.

Tai Chi in Farnham

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

The sessions will be held in Central Farnham. You will need to book your space as spots are limited!

After the success of our last course we are very excited to have the Centre of Psychology coming in to do a 6 week Anxiety Management Course. Each session will last an hour and a half and you must attend all 6 weeks to join the course.

Creative Movement Therapy Camberley

Gemma is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment, that is sensitive to each client’s individual needs. Clients can work at their own pace, developing tools to manage difficult feelings through a process of growth and open minded approach.

With the use of props, art materials, talking, moving and mindful awareness clients begin to express their thoughts and feelings, in order to make sense of their experiences, whilst building trust, increasing reflective thinking and positive self image.

Music is seen to impact fundamentally on the way people live their lives. Join our Guitar Lessons and express yourself creatively, feel more motivated, develop social and communication skills, gain greater awareness of yourself and others, build self-esteem and become more confident in making choices!

This course will start solely with art techniques and then gently and gradually introduce therapeutic elements to the art, focusing on aspects of well-being and self-exploration.

 

Exploring a range of painting & drawing media and subject matter, this course will offer variety and a safe space for participants to explore. Participants will be supported to work in ways in which they feel comfortable, and any therapeutic aspects will be gentle (with alternatives offered to participants who feel unable to take part in any specific activities).

 

The aim is to experiment, explore and to appreciate the many benefits that art can bring; enjoyment, achieving a flow state, reducing anxiety, social interaction, learning new skills and techniques, working in a supportive space, building confidence, a sense of achievement and much more.

 

Tai Chi in Farnham
1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

The sessions will be held in Central Farnham. You will need to book your space as spots are limited!
