Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

Art Class (Morning)

After popular demand we are happy to put Art Classes back onto the Oakleaf calendar. Art is known to help improve various mental and physical symptoms including, but not limited to, reducing pain, anxiety and tension. It can be beneficial to those who have experienced mental disorders, emotional abuse, cancer, post traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), people who are bi-polar, and a variety of other serious ailments.

Our Art Tutor will guide the group through painting, drawing and water colours.

Cost is just £3 a session and you must sign up to the full 5 week course. Speak with Annalise to book your space.

Colouring is a great way to introduce yourself to mindfulness. Join us in the Art Room for an afternoon of peaceful thinking, colours, mellow music and positive energy.

Come along to a FREE six week course of Mindful Movement. These sessions will give you the opportunity to relax and increase mental and physical awareness.

This is expected to be extremely popular and so speak with Annalise in client services if you are interested in joining.

 

 

Sound Therapy
2:30 pm – 3:45 pm

You will be calmly guided into a blissfully aware meditative state of Yogic Sleep (Yoga Nidra) accompanied by the soothing, restorative and healing tones of Tibetan, Bhutan and Indian Singing Bowls, Gongs, Tenchas, rain maker and an Indian ‘Happy Drum’.

 

(FYI: Nada Yoga is the Yoga of Sound ie using sound (singing and singing bowls etc) to connect the mind, body and spirit, and Yoga Nidra is Yogic Sleep, a guided meditation into a deep meditative state (Theta) with intense body awareness (Alpha) between the awake (Beta) and deep sleep (Delta) states of mind and body).

 

Swami Rama: “Yoga Nidra is a revitalising exercise that gives total rest to the mind, brain, nervous system, senses and body.  Except through meditation and Yoga Nidra, one cannot give rest to the totality of the mind.  There is no drug and no scientific or physical technique so far discovered that gives rest to the unconscious part of the mind, except the technique of Yoga Nidra”

 

Tibetan Singing Bowls entrain the brain to move into the Theta brain wave frequencies that induce deep meditative and peaceful states of being, clearing the restless mind and enhancing the mind / body connection, while in the body the vibrations activate the self healing mechanisms, restoring and optimising the flow of energy through the parts of the body where it is required.

Every Tuesday morning we will run a different computer workshop. They have each been designed to empower you to improve your experience on technology and day to day IT activities. They all run from 10-12 and you are more than welcome to join just one or all if you prefer!

Come and join our Annual Client BBQ. Each year we have great fun and there will be performances from our Everyman Choir and our very own Band. We will also have a cake sale filled with delicious treats.

It costs just £4.50 a ticket and this includes a burger, sausage and a drink! Vegetarian options will be available and you can purchase a ticket from anyone in Client Services.

Pilates in Cranleigh

Pilates is an excellent form of exercise that focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Spaces are limited so be sure to speak with Kelvin if you would like to come along!

 

 

 

Wellbeing walk in Surrey Heath

We have started a walking group which runs every Wednesday from 1pm-3pm

The group will meet outside of Frimley lodge park . It is a great way to get fit, meet new people and enjoy a nice stroll along the canal.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese practice which aims to improve general health and well-being. It is a type of meditation – a way of calming the mind and body in this ever crazy world we live in! Some people find a personal spiritual side to it, others use it for relaxation and strengthening the body and mind.

It is never too late to start learning Tai Chi. You will be amazed with what you can achieve in a short space of time!

Spaces are limited and it costs just £2 a session so please speak with Annalise if you would like to join.

Come along to a FREE six week course of Mindful Movement. These sessions will give you the opportunity to relax and increase mental and physical awareness.

Sound Therapy
2:30 pm – 3:45 pm

You will be calmly guided into a blissfully aware meditative state of Yogic Sleep (Yoga Nidra) accompanied by the soothing, restorative and healing tones of Tibetan, Bhutan and Indian Singing Bowls, Gongs, Tenchas, rain maker and an Indian ‘Happy Drum’.

 

(FYI: Nada Yoga is the Yoga of Sound ie using sound (singing and singing bowls etc) to connect the mind, body and spirit, and Yoga Nidra is Yogic Sleep, a guided meditation into a deep meditative state (Theta) with intense body awareness (Alpha) between the awake (Beta) and deep sleep (Delta) states of mind and body).

 

Swami Rama: “Yoga Nidra is a revitalising exercise that gives total rest to the mind, brain, nervous system, senses and body.  Except through meditation and Yoga Nidra, one cannot give rest to the totality of the mind.  There is no drug and no scientific or physical technique so far discovered that gives rest to the unconscious part of the mind, except the technique of Yoga Nidra”

 

Tibetan Singing Bowls entrain the brain to move into the Theta brain wave frequencies that induce deep meditative and peaceful states of being, clearing the restless mind and enhancing the mind / body connection, while in the body the vibrations activate the self healing mechanisms, restoring and optimising the flow of energy through the parts of the body where it is required.

Every Tuesday morning we will run a different computer workshop. They have each been designed to empower you to improve your experience on technology and day to day IT activities. They all run from 10-12 and you are more than welcome to join just one or all if you prefer!

Guitar Lesson (Beginner)
1:30 pm – 2:00 pm

Music is seen to impact fundamentally on the way people live their lives. Join our Guitar Lessons and express yourself creatively, feel more motivated, develop social and communication skills, gain greater awareness of yourself and others, build self-esteem and become more confident in making choices!

You will need to bring your own acoustic guitar. Booking is required so please speak with Annalise to book your space.
