Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

Mindfulness in Godalming
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment, using techniques like meditation, breathing and yoga. It helps us become more aware of our thoughts and feelings, so that instead of being overwhelmed by them, we are better able to manage them.

Practising mindfulness can give people more insight into their emotions, boost their attention and concentration and improve relationships. It’s proven to help with stress, anxiety, depression and addictive behaviours, and can even have a positive effect on physical problems like hypertension, heart disease and chronic pain.

The sessions will be held every Tuesday at Café Mila in central Godalming.
NO COST – sessions are free
Everyone welcome, come along to help you manage stress, anxiety or anger better.

This FREE 5 week course will enable you to learn the basics of music  production, computer composition, mixing and live sound  recording using the latest production software and audio equipment.  Although this is a beginners course, clients will need to be computer literate and have an interest in music. Speak with Client Services to find out more!!

Pilates is an excellent form of exercise that focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Spaces are limited so be sure to speak with Annalise if you would like to come along!

11:15 am – 12:15 pm

Come and join our 12 mindful meditation course. Each week you will learn a new meditation to find out which works for you.

Contact Client Services if you are interested in joining.

Week 1: Introduction to meditation and it’s benefits, Pranayama exercise and guided body scan meditation.

Week 2: Yoga Nidra (guiding into Yogic Sleep state)

Week 3: Nada Yoga (meditation on sound)

Week 4: A Pratyahara Meditation (turning our senses inwards) – eg Pulse Meditation

Week 5: Trataka Meditation (single pointed focus)

Week 6: Chakra Meditation

Week 7: Osho Passive Meditation

Week 8: Osho Dynamic Meditation

Week 9: Flow Meditation – on riverside

Week 10: Reiki Meditation

Week 11: Nada Yoga Nidra

Week 12: the groups favourite meditation

Mindful Movement in Bramley
1:00 pm – 2:15 pm

Come along to a FREE three weeks course of Mindful Movement. These sessions will give you the opportunity to relax and increase mental and physical awareness.

This is expected to be extremely popular and so speak with Kelvin in client services if you are interested in joining.

 

 

Guitar in Park Barn Centre
1:45 pm – 2:45 pm

Music is seen to impact fundamentally on the way people live their lives. Join our Guitar Lessons and express yourself creatively, feel more motivated, develop social and communication skills, gain greater awareness of yourself and others, build self-esteem and become more confident in making choices!

You will need to bring your own acoustic guitar. Booking is required so please speak with Kelvin or Nicole on 01483 303649 to book your space.

Football at Surrey Sports Park
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Run by a former Ghanaian International and Reading FC football player, these fun and friendly sessions are the perfect way to improve your skills and meet new people and improve your mental health. All abilities welcome!

After the success of our last course we are very excited to have the Centre of Psychology coming in to do a 5 week Anxiety Management Course. Each session will last two hours and you must attend all five weeks to join the course.

Whilst the course is free spaces are limited so please speak with Client Services if you would like to book a space.

Turnfit Gym
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join Oakleaf on a trip to the gym where we will get to use all the equipment in a 1 hour session paid for by Oakleaf. It will be a great way to feel comfortable around gym equipment in a safe space with people you know! If you would like to know more speak with Kelvin ofor more information.
