Activities for Clients

Here at Oakleaf we have various different activities, groups and workshops that you might like to get involved with. It might be to learn new skills, find a new hobby, or just to meet new people and get out and about. Have a look at the schedule of events below to see what is going on this month.

We currently host activities in Guildford Town Centre, North Guildford, Waverley and Surrey Heath.

Music is seen to impact fundamentally on the way people live their lives. Join our Guitar Lessons and express yourself creatively, feel more motivated, develop social and communication skills, gain greater awareness of yourself and others, build self-esteem and become more confident in making choices!

We will explore various methods to create simple printed images.  We will use found objects and materials, easy cut lino, polystyrene tiles, card and gelli plates to create relief and mono printed images.   Techniques can be adapted for all abilities.

 

This will involve some mess, with paint and inks getting on hands – it would be advisable for learners to bring an apron or large over shirt along to protect clothing.

We are proud to partner with FoodWise TLC charty to deliver this course.  Our aim is to increase the skills, confidence and mental well-being of all those involved. Eating a healthy balanced diet can positively influence mental health by helping to improve your mood, give you more energy and help you think more clearly. Each participant will learn to cook a healthy meal that they can take home with them after each session and the sessions will also cover topics such as healthy eating, label reading, budgeting and eating for mental well-being.

Motivational Talk: Creative Writing

Eloisa will be talking on this day about her history of mental health, the journey she went on from the age of 14 years old up until age 28 when she changed her health into more positivity through creative writing and music. She will be openly talking with people from Oakleaf about what truly made her personally feel better at the toughest moments of her life, the real support she felt and the things she found within herself to make life better, seem less dark and more fufilling. She will be showing you that the light at the end of the tunnel is you, when you begin to believe in yourself, your recovery and the real you. Everyone’s recovery is different, goes at different paces, but you are your own inner strength and motivation.
