19 Nov PRESS RELEASE: Oakleaf & Amazon Join Forces to Support Mental Health & Wellbeing in Surrey
Oakleaf is thrilled to announce support from Amazon in Weybridge, bringing essential help to individuals facing mental ill-health in the Surrey community.
Through their hard work volunteering and via in-kind support, Amazon donated an incredible £3,760 worth of gifts which were transformed into 82 personalised gift bags for Oakleaf’s clients, local people managing mental ill-health and other challenges. Oakleaf welcome anyone over the age of 16, providing mental health, employment and wellbeing support to hundreds of people throughout Surrey at any one time.
Many of the Amazon gift bags were handed out at Oakleaf’s annual summer client party, ‘Oakfest.’ This ever-popular event was a huge success, with 60 clients joining us for a day filled with laughter and connection. Each attendee received a specially curated gift bag from Amazon filled with items like journals, mindfulness workbooks, and arts and crafts kits. For many clients, these thoughtful gifts provided moments of joy and a reminder that they are seen and valued.
One client expressed their gratitude, telling a volunteer, “This is the nicest day I’ve had in a long time,” perfectly capturing the spirit of the event and the positive impact of Amazon’s support. Another attendee shared, “I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone involved at yesterday’s Oakfest. I’m not normally comfortable at social gatherings, but the atmosphere was brilliant, and I enjoyed myself.”
How Amazon’s Financial Support Helps Oakleaf’s Clients
In addition to the gift bags, Amazon in Weybridge generously donated £1,300 to Oakleaf, a contribution directly funding the vital programmes and services our clients depend on, from creative art classes to specialised counselling support.
Thanks to Amazon’s generous financial donation, Oakleaf can continue to deliver vital mental health and wellbeing support to its clients. Here’s a breakdown of how the funds are making a difference:
- Art Classes: £60 to cover instructor fees, providing clients with a creative outlet to express themselves.
- Fitness Sessions: £240 for our weekly classes, supporting physical health as a foundation for mental wellbeing.
- Counselling Services: £1,000 for vital counselling sessions, delivered in blocks of six to clients.
These services are central to Oakleaf’s mission to provide accessible, quality mental health support, especially for individuals facing financial hardship, health challenges, and other difficulties.
Building a Brighter Future for Community Mental Health
With demand for mental health support continually rising and costs increasing, Amazon’s support of Oakleaf provides critical backing, helping sustain our programmes to support even more people.
Georgiana Popa, an Area Manager at Amazon in Weybridge, said: “It’s incredible to hear about just how many people have been impacted by our team’s support of Oakleaf. We enjoyed every step of the process – from putting together the gift bags to notifying the charity that they were about to receive a donation, and everything in between.
“It was privilege to come together as colleagues and give back to the community in which so many of us live and work. Thank you for giving us that opportunity, Oakleaf.”
