Oakleaf has launched ‘Open Door’ – a new weekly drop-in service in Guildford for young people aged 18–30 navigating mental health challenges, with suicide prevention at its core.
This initiative forms part of a broader mental health scale-up project funded through the Mental Health Scale Up (MHSU) Fund and delivered in partnership with Guildford Action, Hope Hub and Rent Start.
Open Door is a welcoming, out-of-hours space co-created with attendees. Facilitated by Young Adult Support Workers, Georgia Pearson and Nick Moorby, the sessions will help to reduce isolation and connect young people to meaningful support in a safe, non-judgemental setting.
In addition to the drop-in service, Oakleaf is introducing a weekly support group for parents and carers of young people experiencing suicidal thoughts and other mental health challenges. Run by Juliette Rampton and delivered mostly online for accessibility, this group will offer vital peer support and skill-sharing to help families feel less alone and more equipped to support their loved ones.
Both services are part of Oakleaf’s five-year vision to support over 300 young adults, reflecting its long-standing commitment to suicide prevention and improving community mental health.
