CLOSURE OF YOUNG ADULT SAFE HAVEN
It is with sadness that we announce the closure of the pilot Young Adult Safe Haven in Guildford. Despite Oakleaf and Catalyst Support’s best efforts, we are unable to sustain the service beyond the extended pilot period, and the service will conclude on 31 March 2024.
Since its inception, the Young Adult Safe Haven has been providing much-needed out-of-hours support to 18-25 year olds for their mental health and wellbeing. We are immensely grateful to Catalyst Support for their collaboration with Oakleaf and dedication to this initiative.
We understand the impact this closure might have, and we want to reassure that alternative support is available. The Guildford Safe Haven, provided in partnership with Oakleaf, Catalyst Support and Surrey and Borders Partnership (SABP) NHS Foundation Trust, is one of five locations across Surrey and North East Hampshire and will continue to provide out-of-hours support for individuals and their carers experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress.
Based at our Oakleaf premises, this drop-in service is open from 6pm to 11pm, all year round, and welcomes everyone without the need for an appointment including those aged 18-25.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage those in need to utilise the resources provided by the Guildford Safe Haven and other available support services in Surrey.
Oakleaf extends its sincere gratitude to everyone involved – the staff, supporters, and the young adults who made the Young Adult Safe Haven a special and supportive space.
