Safe Havens provide out of hours help and support to people and their carers who are experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress. There are five Safe Havens open in town centre locations across Surrey and north east Hampshire to residents of any district or borough within this area.

During the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the Safe Haven remains open from 6-11pm every day of the week, exclusively for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

The Guildford Safe Haven is based at Oakleaf HQ and is provided in partnership with NHS Guildford and Waverley CCG and Community Connections. We are also running a virtual Safe Haven via video call, so that we can bring your care closer to home.

This pilot service started on Monday November 29th and will run for a minimum of six months.

The team consists of two Young Adult Safe Haven Support Workers who will engage with attendees, provide emotional support if needed and signpost as required. Should someone present in crisis, they will be signposted to the current Safe Haven next door in order to be seen by a Community Psychiatric Nurse.

Similar to the current Safe Havens, the Young Adult Safe Haven operates as a drop in service and no appointment is needed. This free walk-in service is adjacent to the main adult Safe Haven, with a separate entrance.
