22 Feb NEWS: Kelly’s Guildford 10k 2020
For the second year in a row, Kelly’s Storage Charity Events in partnership with the University of Surrey Student Union has chosen to support Oakleaf. At the inaugural Kelly’s Guildford 10k, runners are invited to race from campus to town and back. They can explore the impressive University grounds; taking in some of the landmarks of Guildford as they ran walkways and the beautiful towpath along the Wey.
Further, the event was a resounding success with nearly 600 runners taking part in the challenging 5k and 10k routes.
It managed to raise over £17,000 for the Students’ Union’s two chosen charities, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and of course, Oakleaf.
Well done to everyone at Kelly’s Guildford 10k who braved the wet and windy weather. Especially our volunteers, who successfully (and literally) held the marquee the entire morning. A big thank you goes to all of those who chose to support Team Oakleaf!
At Oakleaf, we believe we need to change the way we view physical activity in order not to see it as something we ‘have to do’, ‘should do’ or ‘ought to do’ for our health, but as something that we do because we personally value its positive benefits to our wellbeing.
Physical activity can offer a welcome boost to your mood, outlook, and mental wellbeing.Being active doesn’t have to mean doing sport or going to the gym. There are lots of ways to be active; all you have to do is find the one that works for you!
